ATVP is proud to launch Solid Ground - a network for artists from refugee backgrounds to meet, develop their skills and practice, and to find new avenues of art-making.

ARTISTS: Abbas Abdulrasool, Ahmed Khalidi, Alwy Fadhel , Flora Mavrommati, Jagath Dheerasekara, Kamaleshwaran Selludura, Majid Rabet, Swe Nyo, with The Juice Media.

We will be kicking off the network with a BBQ on Australia Day at the gallery between 2 - 4pm and welcome everyone to come along and engage in discussion about the experience of being a refugee and the future of asylum seekers in our country.

A group of refugee artists will come together to develop and execute an evolving exhibition throughout our gallery spaces from Australia Day 26 January, until Sunday 19 February. The exhibition will be formally launched on Thursday 2 February.

We strongly encourage you to pass along the information below to any artists you think might be interested - or considering registering yourself if you come from a refugee background.

Looking forward to a busy, productive and creative 2012 with you,

The ATVP Team
